We spotted a Common Crane on our property several times this year - it was mixed in with the Sandhill Cranes but it still stuck out. (Despite its name, the Common Crane is an extremely rare bird to see in the US.) We saw it on 3/18, 3/19, and 3/21 at about the same time every day. We were fortunate to have a group of birders visiting on the 21st who had some really good cameras- thank you to Barbara Hoover for sharing her pictures with us and to Pat Heller and her brother-in-law Richard for bringing the group out. Pat and Richard were here two years ago and they spotted it then as well.

Welcome to Crane Valley Ranch web page. We are Peter and Gail, Jesse and Dustin Bleidt and we live on a 45 acre ranch at the base of the Panhandle in Nebraska, not far from Lake McConaughey. We moved out here in 1999 to get away from the overcrowded Denver metro area and to find a good place to bring up our boys. We decided to call our place Crane Valley as we are located in the North Platte River valley and we are in the Sandhill Crane migration flyway. We get over a thousand Cranes in our lower field some Spring days.

| After we moved out here, Pete's folks gave us a couple of young Nubian goats to help eat our weeds, and we decided that two goats weren't enough. We looked into different breeds and decided to add some Boer cross goats to our herd. We have since added some Fullblood does and bucks, and our bloodlines include Pipeline, Pistolero, Jet Black's Lignite, Nell's Jake Brake, Ram H Tobias, Tarzan and EGGSclusive. |
